Escape the City!

In a meteorological sense, the last few days have been stark evidence of the Summer coming to a grinding halt. A cold wind has blown in, followed by some pretty miserable rain. We are not alone – the majority of the Northern hemisphere will soon be thrown unceremoniously into the dark wet cauldron that is Winter. So make your escape now whilst you still can, if only for a short holiday. Obviously there a warm places that you can fly to at any point in the year – but as winter sets in, it becomes more expensive to fly to somewhere with blistering sunshine (mainly because you have to travel further!). So now is the time to capitalise on cheaper flights and the last dying embers of the European Summer.

I am going to come clean here, instead of pretending that I am offering an objective view on holidays I would rather come out and say it….holidays are better by the sea. Fact. Holidays without the sea can still be good – but who likes to be in the baking sun without the opportunity of running into the water in order to cool yourself off? People without souls…that is who. That was a joke. But seriously, now that we have established that seaside holidays are better than those without water, I have included some destinations that you might want to consider for a quick getaway to keep the feel good summer vibes flowing for a tiny bit longer!

The Med

The Mediterranean in general can be a pretty chilled out place…and the good news is that it is hot! If you want something a little bit fancy then you can get yourself down to Cannes or somewhere on the French Riviera and live the high life – which is something that we are always a little bit partial to here at Life Well Lived. Maybe even organise a trip when a cool little film festival is going on (not Cannes).

Morocco

The new Mecca of surfing for Europeans. Famous spots like Hossegor have now been overrun by the big name brands and huge crowds, and unfortunately this is not what a lot of surfers are after. Morocco offers a more laid back approach to life – or at least the surf destinations offer a bit of chill time away form the crowds. It also has the craziness of Marrakech for those looking for a bit of culture. All in all, it is just a hop over the Straits of Gibraltar and you suddenly feel a long way away from Europe, London and the stress of your desk job!

Lanzarote

Lanazarote probably brings back horrible memories of 16 year old holidays out to a place that doesn’t care too much about ID. Not quite the case, Lanzarote offers some stunning beaches and scenery along with a world renowned sports based hotel called Club La Santa. This is where many world class triathletes train and if you are interested in any sort of sporting holiday is a must do. Prices are reasonable, you can swim, surf, sunbathe, drink and party. All on some pokey little island in the Atlantic. Nice one.

Three quick options there for you – book now to avoid expensive last minute fares and have something to look forward to as the days get shorter and colder. Good Luck!
